Insect and Spider Identification: Got stung this morning, 1 by nilly

There are A LOT of different flying guys shaped like this here, all with different markings. The second one that got me this morning was a rusty colored one that was apparently riding on the leg of my shorts until I squatted on the ground and trapped it between there and my big fat belly. THAT one hurt more than the stripey one. Still hurts a little...... Not used to getting stung. It's been at least one decade if not plural decades......
