The shutter speed was actually 1/1000 using the setting I mentioned earlier. I also had the Exposure Compensation set at -1. When I have time, I will take photos of the same subject at different settings. I often preset my Manual setting so all I have to do is quickly switch from one to the other. Of course, not all subjects are accommodating.
