I would keep just rooted brugs in the smallest pots until you see roots comeing out the bottom, like mentioned above, altho mine just grow into the ground and I let them.. mine have not bloomed since their first flush this spring, the heat has taken their toll.. mine get morning sun and afternoon shade ( around the pear tree) .. and full to part sun on the now full sun south fence.. last year I had four brugs flushing with blooms that were from cuttings I had in winter.. when your brugs start Y'ing, you can count on blooms to follow.. patience is what I learned the most with these beautys.. I had a four inch cutting with two leaves go to a 9 ft tall brug with blooms at end of summer. I have had some two foot tall brugs never bloom. I don't know what you have, but some do not bloom as often as others. sounds like you are a good brug momma.. just that patience thing. the bigger the pot, the more water they hold, which can be a detriment in the winter inside. I just moved my 6ft tall brugs to large pots this spring.. and they need to be moved up a pot again, but won't until next spring, as they will winter over in those planters in the basement this year. this was a small cutting in winter inside, it is in a hanging basket.. |
