Beginner Gardening: Sango Kaku Japanese Maple, 1 by MapleMan20

My Sango Kaku Japanese Maple isn't looking too good. I planted it back in early June and the heat and sun have worked it over. I have had a tent canopy over it for the last 3 weeks to shield the sun, but I am afraid it is too late. The leaves all burned and the tree looked as if it were going dormant early. The trunk turned pinkish red, but today I am noticing that it has darkened up considerably. I am afraid it is dying (or dead already). Anyone know anything about them. I feel terrible that this happened.
