Those families must not be into birding. We have four boys and they are all boy, but when we are on our bird walks, we are trying to teach them to leave everything as is (like, not throwing rocks) and to be quiet as so we can see and hear the birds better. This heat has put the birds into hibernation or something. My, the activity has been non-existent but for grackles and mourning doves. The doves I enjoy, the grackles I threw corn for way far from the house, hoping they will find it.

We did get a pretty good look at one of our nearby Great Blue Herons the other day. Trying to keep cool, it didn't fly off as quick as usual, so my husband got a picture.
