Yes, there is a metal trellis there but it can't be seen due to the growth of the Jackmanii. Here's a photo that does show it as it began to grow last year.

There is also a clear vinyl mesh (wide holes) that you could string up and when the clematis fills it you can't see it from either side. You could cut it to the size you want. I'll try to find it online since I know what it looks like but haven't explained it well.
