Marilyn, Annie's has 2 penstemons that they say are longer lived than most. The one called Thorn I had gotten last year, but it did not survive the winter. This year I ordered Midnight, and we will see how it will do. That 'Sweet Joanne' Penstemon I ordered last year and did very well. The foliage is very similar to the 'Red Rocks' Penstemon, if you're familiar with that one.
