FruitOfTheVine wrote: Callas are my latest addiction. Well what the heck, isn't most everything? Several of mine haven't bloomed yet, just cut what had and stuck them in a frog on top of the vase. There were lots of duplicate blooms so I was able to fill it up. I wanted to pick up my MIL one day this week so she could see the gardens and had planned to give her the bouquet since the Irises she loves so much are done. Turns out she's not feeling well and sounds like she might have the flu. Instead I gave the vase to a neighbor yesterday in exchange for a few of her tomato and pepper plants. Her face just lit up and said she'd never seen such purdy blooms. Then she said "OMG, what kind of flowers are these? They don't look real and they feel like plastic." Faye, I feel your pain. Last year the deer used so many of my Daylily buds as evening snacks. What a helpless feeling seeing them mowed down the next morning and have waited two years to see a lot of them bloom. I've tried Irish Spring soap, Susie, but the deer just stomp it in the ground. Don't know what your secret is but would like to know. In the meantime, I'm still using Liquid Deer Fence. Good stuff and it works for rabbits too. The Mandevilla you gave me eons ago, happ, has buds again. Amazing, since I thought it died last Winter in our garage. The leaves had yellow splotches and most of them fell off. The poor plant was pretty much naked when I brought it back out at the end of April, but she's made a tremendous come-back, and is still one of Hubby's favorite plants, placed in one of his favorite spots.....right between the garage doors. 0:) Susie, check out this Daylily from you. Magic Dawn a.k.a. Howdy. I'm thinking it should be moved to my Spider garden? |
