SkeptikSharon wrote: Hi All, I'm new to the Aroids (actually had to look up the meaning of Aroids to figure out if this is where I should post this message). I had picked up some amorphophallus bulbifer seeds from Rare Exotic Seeds, because they looked pretty and sounded interesting. I'm really new to gardening in general, but wanted to play with interesting plants, not the same plants I see everywhere. So I planted half of my seeds in a pot, in a ziploc, as I think those were the directions given on the website. That was on May 25th. The other half of the seeds (5 of them) I decided to germinate using the paper towel and ziploc baggy method. Three of those had started sprouting roots by June 2nd and were potted up. The other two are still in paper towels and ziploc. They looked like they might not have been good though. I just took a look today to make sure that the first 5 that were put directly into a pot were still moist. And I discovered they had started to push through the soil surface! I'm so excited! Now I need to go back and read again about when I need to move them and whatnot. Just wanted to share with you all. =) |
