Tammy - a potted clematis can be planted at any time but many of us order during winter for spring planting. There aren't many yellow clematises but you can check the usual sites...Brushwood, Donahue's, Joy Creek, etc.

Last year I bought Tibetana (a yellow) from Brushwood. The vine got to 6' and had many stems by fall. When it flowers I'll post photos. Here's Brushwood's photo of it.

I've never seen a yellow large flowered clematis.
