Re: your comment about plant mortality - well, we've all murdered our share of plants, I can guarantee you. Yes, it is live and learn.

The other rule of thumb is to get the 'right plant in the right place' i.e. get the light, soil, fert and water right for the plant and you will usually succeed.

Good thing you gave away your white BOP - here's one of my big old clumps in the back yard - 20ft. tall!
