I could see the white head bobbing as I approached on the the long straight stretch, and I was able to slow down and pull to a stop almost directly across the highway. The eagle barely looked up, so intent it was on feeding. I never left the car, and took photos until a vehicle approached from the opposite direction. Since the carcass was nearly on the fog line, eagle thought that was too close for comfort.
