Our local horticulture guy said clem's and astilbe are the two biggest errors in greenhouses where they plant seeds. My understanding is clematis are grown from cuttings, not seeds, but maybe some places do that. Anyhow, there is a greater chance of an error...then there's human error as well.

My friend, Louise (venu209) lives in New Jersey, three hours away. We both have the exact same clematis from the exact same place, planted from the same batch, the same week, and yet her flowers are gorgeous compared to mine. Louise's is the darkest version while the palest is from Simply Clems (where we bought them), and the larger photo is how it blooms here.
