Does that mean it is spring already? They were awesome, and of course, I did not have my camera with me. I heard them first, and then looked up. They were so very high in the sky. It was about 60° and breezy. A new storm is approaching, but it is supposed to be a warm one again. We worked outside today cutting up branches and cleaning up the area around the house. We got about 5% done! Also I sowed some seeds in one of the square foot gardens.... Cimmaron Lettuce Red Sails Lettuce Red Grendbloise Lettuce Summer Purple Broccoli Violetta Italia Cauliflower Almost all of the snow has melted. there are just a few patches here and there. Jeanette, I wish that you snow would melt now, too? When does it usually melt? (And stop snowing?) Steve is getting dinner ready and I will be sowing some more seeds and putting them outside on the shelves on the back porch. I guess you could call them wintersowed, but it is almost spring. I have an area downstairs in the bathroom counter, which Steve made for me to sow the seeds when it is too cold out, or in the evening. Last year we had late snowstorms. I do not know what this year will bring. Does anyone here grow veggies from seed? I know Dave grows some. What are you growing this year? Someone sent me some true potato seeds. Has anyone even heard of seeds from potatoes - not "seed potatoes", which are just small tubers. These are tiny seeds, even smaller than tomato seeds. I must go now. Have a nice warm evening everyone. And welcome home, Katie! P.S. Does anyone have anything in bloom yet? I have only a few things. Violets, hellebore, primrose, violas, and a few crocus scattered about. This poor crocus had been smashed by the snow, but I think it actually was finished blooming as it bloomed before the latest storm... |
