Our little Carli (not Bailey who was hospitalized in September for ingesting something toxic in our yard) went on a walk on our normal route on Tuesday with Hank and he saw nothing unusual and had no idea she had scarfed anything so quickly while walking, but she ended up in the hospital that night for yet another very costly visit that has made us pretty stressed since we don't even see what they grab. They are NEVER outside on their own and we are very frustrated that this happened twice in 3 months with both of them now. The hospital suspects a Queen Palm berry in Carli's case. We bought a beautiful shrub (Golden Dew Drop) yesterday at a native plant nursery after checking my main list to make sure it isn't listed as toxic. We planted it today and then I went in to check another site to make sure, and guess what???!!! Fatally toxic berries!! That caused me to take all of the lists I have and reduce them to one list containing only those plants that have fatally toxic parts. Here is the list for any of you who might also have puppies or dogs who can't resist eating first and asking questions later! I hope it helps! Louise |
