My sister lives about 15 minutes from Loup Loup which is a fun hill. As a child, I mostly skiied the Summit - it was closest to Seattle - and we tended to go to Hyak which I think was least expensive (4 kids). I remember my younger sister skiing with rubber boots and tiny skis with curled tips and roller skate bindings. She hated them. I miss my Head 360s which were basic black skis with no weird shaping to them. Got them as a high school graduation gift in '71 and used them until they totally delaminated a few years ago. Have been renting since and am not fond of the new skis, but love the comfort of the new boots. My older son switched to snowboarding awhile back, but will be teaching skiing this season and needed some poles. He nabbed mine from the barn - turquoise and lime green stripes with bailing twine on one grip (also circa '70s). He thinks they are very cool. Here's another shot of Baker, which is absolutely gorgeous on a sunny day. |
