I was checking for a family on Trumpeter Swans when I saw the Goldeneyes and Bufflehead. 8 Trumpeters spent last winter on a local lake, but weren't there when I checked. They arrived on Jan. 1 this year, so maybe they will still show up. Received a report that 8 Trumpeters and 1 Tundra are on a lake near Bartlesville, OK where they wintered last year. It's a new thing them showing up here and important to their survival since migration is a learned behavior, not instinctual, with swans. Lots of watersheds in OK that are prime wintering spots for swans.
