Almost any seedling can express interesting (or not so) colorations in the fall. Oaks certainly are no exception, in my humble experience. What color they turn is an indication of their capacity - not necessarily a certainty though - to exhibit this characteristic as they mature.

So - in a field of seedlings to choose from, would you pick out the washed out greenish yellow blah color exhibited, or the brightest flashiest knock-your-socks-off fill in your favorite color here?
