Okay, it's like this; Plants require photosenthesis (sun light), water, (to include humidity in the environment) and other nutrients... When they're dormant; meaning they're asleep like animals that hypernate during the winter. Their metabolic rate slow down and stay as is for the duration (dormancy). They can stay in this state temporarily, until spring when we or nature provide(s) the needed environment for them to resume their growth. I hope that helps?
