So I tried looking up plants on the slug-resistant list, and found my sturdy volunteer: Lobularia maritima 'Snow Crystals' Sweet Alyssum, Seaside Lobularia http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/65150/ With zero effort on my part, it threw its seeds onto the sidewalk where they crawled into the crack between the sidewalk and the walls of a raised bed. This is their second or third year of spreading while thumbing their noses at slugs. The Alyssum are the over-exposed white ones at the bottom of the shot.
