Are the leaves of Philodendron verrucosum considered to be deciduous?

Recently my P. verrucosum vine dropped all of it's leaves. I thought it was dying.
As soon as the leaves dried up and fell off the vine, the vine began throwing leaf buds and shoots.

I see that the leaf cataphylls are deciduous, but is this normal for the leaves themselves?

This is the only species I have that did this, and it was under normal weather conditions. I have only had the vine for about 1 1/2 years.
