I only saw one - a 5' Dugite (highly venomous). It was crossing the path just three feet in front of us. You have to keep an awareness of snakes and would be very unfortunate to be bitten. They will slither off into the undergrowth to get out of your way as soon as they feel any vibration. The warmer the weather,the more active the snakes become.
