I use MS Word and first create a blank "table" for each size of Zip-lock baggie I want to label.
I just tuck the labels inside the baggies: no tape no glue.

The lines (Borders) that mark each cell let you know how much text will fit on each label.,

I print double-sided, and create 2 tables for each 8.5" x 11" page I'm going to print.
My blank template reminds me how they line up: the left-page row is numbered 1-2-3-4
and the right-page rows are numbered 4-3-2-1.

A little juggling, like adjusting the left margin 0.03" at a time, will let all the lines line up exactly on both sides of the page. You can have twice as much text for each baggie. Using a 10-point font, I can record most of what I know on one label.

I usually put the common name at the top, 14-point bold or larger.
The Latin name can be italicized, and I usually make it 9-point.

Let's see if I can attach a sample JPG ...
