Ginger bought in the grocery store can be planted and will grow. the question 1. is it hardy in your area? 2. can you find a chunk of root with an eye on it. those make the best starts from the grocery store. If there is an eye it means the root either did not get the growth inhibitor spray on it or its growing out of it. I planted a few starts last month to see if they will survive our winter. I am so tired of dragging in the huge pots of banannas and ginger. I hope the test plants do well. so now the test ... who is going to try a standard plant??? what are you going to try it on???
