JB--Welcome from me too!
We need some "fresh blood" here.,......

I believe the mandevilla is just an annual here. If you have a greenhouse--that may be a different story....
I would only keep it in there for the winter--and then out it goes--like end of May.

The red Mandevilla is a bit different. They seem to be more shrub-like, even though they make a lot of viney runners.
The pink one (like mine) is the one with the leathery, stiff leaves. I personally like this plant better.

I bought mine this Spring at a Nursery. it was in an 8" pot and only about 2' tall.
They come on these small trellises, with all the stems wound up and secured all over them.

I try to, gently, unwind the stems so they can "march on" up my trellis...I believe this helps a lot.

DOC--Do you mean my Mandevilla looks like it needs some acid food?
I am sure it could use something--as I have had a mandevilla growing in this same pot for 3 years now.
I will continue to do so--but will work in something 'good" next year before I plant one.
