A long well kept road takes you though the park, it's has a very airy feeling, sort of a combination of woodsy and marine. You don't get that 'claustrophobic, stagnant, dark tree canopy' kind of feeling here. It's very environmentally conscious and they have, checkerboards on some tables, horseshoe pitching areas, volleyball nets, canoe rentals, trails (albeit limited), and a large playground for children ages 2-5 yrs. The main attraction is of course the beach on Gardiners Bay. Admittedly I prefer the huge, rough waves of the Southern shores on the Atlantic, but this was nice for a family outing with waters which were calm and forgiving for those who prefer not to fight the waves. Wooden picnic tables with park grills and pavilions were conveniently placed about. |
