Last year at hubby's prodding, I bought two small 4" pots of Cortaderia pumila for $4 each at a local nursery. Pampas grass reminds us of our trips to the beach, our alltime favorite place to vacation, and we'll always have these and similiar grasses in our landsccape knowing they can become invasive. Those two small plants have grown 6' tall in a only a year and are blooming now. I know I need to move them out of the garden next Spring since they're starting to tower over my Spider Daylilies. Once moved, they'll have lots of room to spread. Maybe they're good candidates to plant around telephone poles? Lots of folks around here do that. Another thought I had is they could be used as a privacy fence where we've lost White pines.
