Jcs2010 wrote: *CLIMBING ROSE ROOT QUESTION * There is few bunches growing out of ground. I need to move two of them as they are overcrowded. I first dug up the smallest rose bush. I managed to get so deep but the root of the bush seemed to be just like a long thick woody root stem with only very few fine roots. I couldnt actually find any 'roots' but whilst i was digging even deeper i cut through this thick stem root. So what i did was replant it back in same position stil with the cut root. Its now been a week and most of leaves have dried up and so has the buds. Some of the stems are stil green so i dont think its entirely died. What should i do or what should i have done? I already dug over 2feet deep so how far down would i have found the main root system? And has the bush died now or will it recover? I dont know whether to prune it back. I need to move another two plants as they growing into next door property but they are stil in good condition except for this one! Any help will be grateful. Also what is a tap root? And was this part of root not actually the root? Ps the pic is a vase of some of the pink roses from the bush |
