Some of the noids are genetically unstable and revert to the characteristics of of one of it's parents. Lots of other variables can also cause a violet to change characteristics. Also a first bloom can appear markedly different from subsequent blooms. Even certain varieties are known to be more prone to sporting. Personally, I think AV's are very unpredictable, as far as blooming plants go--but the surprises can be very exciting! This one is labeled 'Lil Snowdrift'--had solid colored blue-violet blooms at first. This is it's 3rd bloom with a chimera type flower. It has more leaf variegation with cooler temps. |
