HollyAnnS, It will last long past me.

Wha, I agree doing it right is always right and the plants are going to survive just fine. They will get a serious pruning in the spring, as I think it best to wait until then for the Ilex. But I need to check on that unless anyone on here knows?

I can't wait for him to get the next walls up and I can get the dirt back in the beds so we can really think about new plantings. He then he will start the stone paths and build wooden steps. We had stone before, but they are not a safe. For planting, I know we have room for a nice Japanese Maple, maybe two as we moved two sizable high bush blue berry bushes out of there and we are not moving them back. We will start looking for nice specimen Japanese maples soon to plant in the fall. We have room for some peony bushes which I have already ordered and more Tall bearded iris, that are already on order, both from coops. I will plant lots of spring bulbs which I am sending in the orders for tomorrow. But until I see the final area, it is hard to plan totally. I think it will be way nicer than the old layout with part of the stairs moved. Here is the old layout. I will post the next phase when it happens. Patti
