I found a spider a few weeks ago under a cement brick (they line the under side of my porch to keep skunks/raccoons/cats out) and I cant seem to ID this thing anywhere. I've scoured hundreds and hundreds of images and descriptions and can't seem to figure out what it is. I have an image of the spider (its legs with drawn) and its web (but I can only attach one of them). I have others of its legs spread out from today, as well as a 4 minute long video of it moving around that I could provide if someone thinks they have an idea.
The spider (legs extended) was about the size of a (US) half dollar but the body was about the size of a penny, maybe a little larger. It was black (possibly VERY dark brown) and the abdomen had a unique pattern. A medium-light brown color what looked like a cross, except the top was looped around to the sides, almost like a child's drawing of a butterfly. It looks kind of like this: qp (without the space in between) and the straight line pointed toward the head while the "loops" were closer to the rear.
The web was pretty thick, and had holes scattered through out it. It was more like a nest in structure.
Hope you can give me a hand. As I mentioned it looked as though there were an egg sac and I'd like to identify before they break out!
