Allwild,
I thought long and hard before I had my fence built and eventually went with the old fashioned, built-from-the-ground-up, plain wooden picket fence. It was a year or two before I could afford to have it painted but it made all the difference in the world. Because the front of my lot was uneven and I wanted a little picket garden in front of the porch, I devised a way to do it with brick beds to level the field, so to speak. On the lower side, I just let the pickets follow the curve of the slope. On the driveway side, I had a brick wall built to separate my driveway from my neighbors (and to keep the neighbor's kids' big wheels from being left behind my car where I would likely run over them). Here's what I ended up with ... this is the lower side (beds prepared but not planted)
(Edited to correct a typo)
