The shipping charges to get even free rocks to the island is now beyond anything that I would be able or willing to pay. So it will be timber. We moved a ton of stuff again today. 20 clumps of DL's, more sweet fern, a bunch of Hypericum, some inkberry and Ilex crenata so I had to dig some bed extensions to house the kids. Less grass, more beds. Yippee. The excavator guys tore out the old rotten walls and removed a huge amount of dirt. I am rethinking the layout and my make a big change with the stairs being moved and the walls also reconfigured. Change is good. I can see a couple of more Japanese Maples in the new configuration. DH is rolling his eyes, but I think he sees my vision. Here is a collage of some of the action today. He first took out the top section and then moved down to the lower stone terrace to remove all those walls. He had the touch. I couldn't believe he could get it down there. It would have taken us a week to do what he did with one guy in 6 hours. Patti |
