In Vt to keep them from building nests under the porch roof all the old timers paint the undersides of them a pretty sky blue. Seems to work. Today 25 yards of mulch has arrived. I am inside working, as this mulch is my mother's day gift that comes with laborers so I don't have to be outside doing it myself, though we will do a few beds that I am not ready for the lawn crew to do. It is very windy today which I hate to work in. I went to Tower Hill Botanical garden on Sat for a daffodil tour being done by David Burdick who is a great specialty grower of Narcissus. When we finished the outside tour, we went into to the show and when we got to the grand prize winner, he was so surprised that it was him. http://www.daffodilsandmore.com/about.htm There was a primula show also going on with several nice growers selling plants. I went a tad nuts, is any one surprised? I had a spare suitcase in the car which I filled up with some gems to plant along the endless stream with my other primula. A new obscession. I also picked up and interesting Hellebore call Pacific Frost with great variegated leaves. Here are some of the Narcissus that I liked and David Burdick. Patti |
