i have had a grand time reading this thread. of course it took me about 2 hours because i had to go off and search for some of the lilies on google, and check out all the other things folks mentioned. :)
i too am a lilium lover. my addiction started early on and then i had a co-op last spring here. folks ordered over 3000 bulbs. some of those of course were mine. :) i planted a lot of lily bulbs last spring and most of them did just fine, and blossomed beautifully. i went from having some stargazers and some mixed asiatics, to having some of them all!!!!! of course they still arn't enough!!! i put in a lot of mixed. and i'm having fun seeing what they are. now i plan on picking specific ones i like and adding them in here and there and everywhere!!!!

i get a catalogue from the lily garden. website here:

i have not ordered from them yet because i wanted to make sure that i was competent in growing them before i invested in some of there bulbs. imagine a whole catalogue of just lilies. yep, my dream book. i want one of these, and 3 of these, and and and......:)

i have lots of pictures of my lilies. i even grow them against my woodlands. they get great spring sunshine and once the leaves are out they get dappled sunlight and some up to 2 hours a day of direct light. i have some stargazers i planted 3 seasons ago and they keep coming back, but they haven't reproduced or gotten much larger. but the nice thing about plantin them there is that they open a bit later than those in sun or part sun and it extends the length of my lily show. i planted a lot of oriental mixed in the spring and they did fine and it was after the leaves had already started to sprout, so i'm hoping for even better results this year.
this picture is of 2 of my new tiger lilies. these need to be planted off by themselves, away from other lilies because they can carry a disease, i forget which one, that will travel by air to the others. so off in the corner, in the back yard they are.
