What I did was suspend a milk jug (painted flat black) above the bird bath and used a length aerator tube (like for an aquarium) to start a slow drip into the bird bath. At the end of the tube is a little green valve (for aeration) that I turned way down so that the water was a slow drip. I started the water flowing by siphoning it into and down the tube (like siphoning gas from a gas tank). This serves two purposes. (1) I'd read that birds are attracted to dripping water and it sure looks like that is true. (2) I got tired of constantly refilling the bird bath. The gallon of water dripping should keep it full longer, so that I don't have to go up to it and add water so often. Hack This message was edited Apr 27, 2010 9:15 PM |
