I started a new growing area downstairs last night. We are getting down to 37 tonite, but I told my hubby no sheets, no trips to save everythng will get cold but they will perk up at sunrise and as the day warms up. In one cardboard box I took a cheap plastic draw string Laundry bag from dollar tree, put box inside and drew the string after tamping it down, poked a few holes for draininnage, filled it up with potting mix, planted beets, lettuce, radishes, spanish onions, dill, spoon tomatoes, carrots, and more beans. Salad in a box zi call it. Planted russets out under the edge of the compost pile out in the alley, they are all up and growing. This up and down temps are good for salvias and penstamons to germinate, they like that sorta thing. I have alot up and going outside, and i can't wait to see some blooms. Iochromas and lantanas and I. carneas are really leafing out.
