i thought it was simple enough instructions. then i got the call at work - with an excited husband on the other end - "hey, they have sorted chicks this year, all different kinds and all of them are pellets!" which i gently corrected to pullets... no, i didn't think there was anywhere local to get sexed chickens... yes i know aracaunas lay pretty eggs, those are the kind i really want... hey don't buy any, we have 26 coming in the mail next week that's why you're there, remember? but i knew it was already too late, and so did my coworkers who were all laughing at the half of the conversation they could hear. and sure enough, i came home to 4, week-old aracauna chicks, an excited little boy, and an almost as excited husband.

they did remember to get the chick feed at least... i knew it would be dangerous to send them in there...
