I love the second shot, looks like he's peeking around the branch at you. I was outside planting some bulbs a few minutes ago and heard a hawk so grabbed my camera. It's funny, usually when predators are around the Jays will really make a racket and all the birds scatter to hide, but there was a Jay going to one of the feeders and a couple of Doves feeding on the ground ... nobody seemed agitated at all and none went into hiding. The hawk didn't get anything from my yard but I saw it do a fast dive in a neighbor's yard down the road. I came in to answer the phone so I don't know if he caught his lunch or not. Sure wish I had a powerful zoom lens. I have no idea which hawk this is, it could be a Sharp-shinned or Cooper's Hawk. |
