Hubby and I have been walking in the woods behind out complex for the past two evenings. This is where I spotted the Pileated. I heard a GHO hooting last night, so we tried to figure out where he/she might be. Went back this evening... same thing. I think we are within 50 yards of it, but still haven't spotted the owl. Yeah, yeah, I know.... that's their whole point.... not to be seen! I did spot this nest yesterday, and I thought it had enough sticks to be an owl nest. Today's hoots were heard very close to this tree and nest.
