I bought this oak tree at a native plant sale last fall and think it might make a nice informal upright. I am not very skilled with bonsai technique and am pretty lazy about learning to wire etc. I have played around with a few plants with mixed results. How should I proceed with this little plant? I want to widen the base a little and develop the above ground roots (term escapes me right now, starts with an N?). I am also wondering about branch trimming too. I never seem to get the right balance or the right branches cut properly. Any advice would be appreciated.
