This is my beautiful handsome guy named Chipper. I adopted him 11 years ago when he had almost no hair and had been so abused that he was afraid of any human.

We had a rocky start, on our way home from the animal shelter, he got sick all over my lap and when we got home, he jumped out of the car so fast that he took the leash out of my hand and ran away. It was 3 days before the shelter called to say they'd found him. Again I picked him up and we've been best friends ever since. He helped my mom make it through the last days of her life and I couldn't love him more.

Late this afternoon we're taking him to our vet to be put to rest. He's been very ill for a long time and we've kept him as long as he has been comfortable. I hate this day so much.
