I love getting back up into the mangrove bays of south FL as well as the Everglades, the inland rivers and lakes as well as the coastal flats and hardwood areas in my area here in north FL along the gulf. These Wood Storks are very willing subjects most of the time whether they are feeding, nest building or just standing around. The first picture I should have mentioned is not a landing as it might appear. The stork is actually trying to pull the twig free and is using the his large and powerful wings to pull the twig free. If was a very interesting aerial ballet so to speak. Dave, hoping the mealies arrive soon, or you might have to open up the pantry for other options! Here is one of my favorite subjects, an American Oyster Catcher near the mouth of the Suwannee River on, of course, an oyster bed. This was taken last season from our kayak. |
