ditto what lin said about being able to grow cyclamen inground. I spend good money on them but I've also noticed that this year they were about 20% cheaper than in previous years. Hopefully it is a continuing trend. I don't know if mine are florist type, I got them at WM. In fact, I have bought 2 batches this winter. The first batch was decimated by the infamous Dec 2009 frost and I just finished planting my 2nd batch. Just needed a little color among all the brown that surrounds me.

I love syngoniums but yes, have to be grown in pots or will take over. here's a pic of one of mine, growing as a houseplant. very undemanding. I love red and I collect plants w/ red flowers, leaves, berries, veining, whatever is red.

I'm enjoying all the pics but especially Metrosideros' ones showing the gray skies. I look up and pretend it is molten silver and shaping up into things. Who else does weird things like that?

The TX star hibbie growing in the basement looks much happier than ones I've seen growing outdoors here in TX.
