New Year's day was bitter cold but the light was so favorable I could not resist going to the brush pile to photograph my feathered friends. In the winter I put out black oiled sunflower seeds and chopped corn and they seem to be waiting for me in the morning when I arrive with the days ration. The total number of birds seen on the farm yesterday was 30...a little over one per acre!!

There are always dozens of Cardinals and this year there is a leucistic female that takes my breath away...she is so gorgeous and I have yet to capture what I really see.
