Hummingbird and Butterfly Gardening: Help with Asclepias, 1 by Cibarius

Then, after the first frost, it put up some new top leaves. I have attached a photo of this current display. Can anyone tell me what is going on with this plant? Should I have patience with it. Or should I dig it up and try another thing?
