Hibiscus: Hardy hibiscus question??, 1 by smurf428

I planted a bunch of Hibiscus coccineus (red texas star) last spring, I got about 18 or so that came up.. I live in zone 6b and it says there good to zone 6a.. Just wanted to know if anyone grows these.. Do they die off to the ground and start again every year like the Hibiscus moscheutos do?? The reason I'm asking is that Hubby cut them all about 6" from the ground.. I asked him to cut all the plants down but leave the hibiscus.. Guess he missed that part lol... I never got a flower, but i didn't plant them in full sun.. I would hate to have to start over, but if i do I have seeds ready to plant again..
