Here is one more 'Snow Goose' photo. This is my sixth tagged Snow Goose (MH36) that I have photographed and reported this year. When tagged on Bylot Island, Nunavut, Canada in August, 2005 it was already an adult female. Since then, three other sightings of MH36 have been reported, all in Quebec, Canada. So mine is the 4th reported sighting, some 2300 miles from where it spends its summer. They put the neck collars on during the month of August while they are molting and unable to fly. I now find myself constantly searching for tagged Snow Geese among the thousands that visit the mid-Atlantic states during Fall and Winter. |
