Tomorrow we are going down to Hackberry Flat which is a wetland managed by ODWC about 50 miles from here. It was a natural wetlands that was drained in the 30's for farming, but still too wet much of the time to farm, so converted back to a wetland. It's a stopover for thousands of Sandhills and whoopers are often seen here when migrating through. Once belonged to Comanche Chief Quanah Parker. Met this guy at Lake Quanah Parker yesterday. He decided he wanted by birding spot for a nap, so I gave it to him. Dave, Always enjoy your bluebirds. |
