cici77 wrote: lol well lilyfan... at least u have saddles.., i had one when i was first given my Appaloosa, Chief, but he was 18 when i got him 3 years ago and was very barn sour, plus i think he might have been abused... and i had never had a horse before him , so i did the big no-no and spoiled him rotten.. almost treated him like u would a dog... a 1200 pound dog...lol... and well now he walks all over me.. even when i tried to regain control..... he does listens to my husband, because he (my hubby) never let him get away with anything... infact i cant even ride him.. he tries to nip at my feet when i am on his back....anyway, he hates saddles... i dont know if he had hurt himself when he flipped over on his back when the people who gave me him were riding him and he got spooked.. the guy on his back kept pulling on the reins and he reared and so the guy pulled even harder and he reared again and flipped on his back... since then he hates saddles.. so i am wondering if he hurt himself... my hubby rides him totally bareback.. not even a bareback saddle.. he is very stubborn and crabby most of the time... the horse that is...lol.. my other horse is half Percheron Draft and half Morgan.. he was a Premrin baby... I got him when he was a year and a half old and he was already almost as big as chief..(chief is 16 hands) and now he is bigger then chief.... he is a beautiful bay, with black mane and tail...he has the kindest eyes.. and has the most playful naughty personality... lol.. the place i got him named him Gremlin (yuck i know) and i tried to change his name but he was such a playful bratt when i got him i just couldnt.. he goes by the nickname 'gremmy' or 'grem-grem'.. and sometimes even 'gemmers' lol.. he really is a good horse.. he loves to be worked.. and loves the attention.. he also listens really well.. my niece this spring is going to train him , i was training him when i first got him and he did soooo good... now they have been in the pasture for the past year and i havent done any work with him because of this building our home project... i just dont have the time.. gremmy is too big for the saddle i have now.. i want to get an aussie saddle.. but that will have to wait... at least till spring... anyway below is a pic of my two babies... this was taken in march of this year.. gremmy is even bigger now... he will be 3 in july 2004 ....
